I recently came across a Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo feather. For me, finding a feather is a gentle affirmation that I'm on the right path.
Over the years, feathers have come to symbolise trust, alignment, and the reassurance that I'm moving in the direction I'm meant to be. Every time I come across one, I'm reminded to pause, take a breath, and acknowledge the journey I'm already on.
The feather didn't tell me where to go. It reminded me that I already knew.
There are seasons in life when we long for certainty. We question our decisions, wonder if we're heading in the right direction, and search for reassurance that we're becoming who we're here to be. Yet life doesn't always offer certainty. Instead, it offers moments that invite us to slow down and pay attention.
A feather.
The distant call of a cockatoo, often said to signal rain on its way.
The earthy scent that rises just before the rain begins.
The warmth of sunlight filtering through the trees.
These moments become meaningful because of the relationship we have with them. They invite us back into the present, where the noise settles and our inner knowing becomes a little easier to hear.
This Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo feather reminded me that the path doesn't have to be forced. It unfolds through presence, trust, and a willingness to keep taking the next gentle step.
